Webinar “How slot machines profits are used to support NGOs in Finland”
17 September 2020 at 2 p.m. (Moscow time)/at 1.00 p.m. (Central European Time). Ms. Sini Seemer, Senior specialist from Funding Centre for Social Welfare and Health Organisations (STEA), will speak about the funding of social welfare and health NGOs in Finland.
STEA https://www.stea.fi/web/en/frontpage manages the appropriation of grants from Veikkaus Oy's slot machine profits. Veikkaus Oy is the company owned entirely by the Finnish state and the revenue of over 1 million euros is forwarded to the state authorities to allocate for funding NGOs in different sphere.
STEA a standalone state-aid authority operating in connection with the Administration and Planning Department of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. Non-profit organisations can apply for grants from STEA for their work that promotes health and social welfare. Every year, STEA processes some 2,500 funding applications, and prepares a funding proposal to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. Organizations receive grants for general or targeted activities, investments, development projects, introductory projects and other projects with a defined purpose.
