School of Young Managers in Public Administration

SYMPA was founded in 2007 in cooperation with the Swedish organization SIPU International (now FCG Sweden) with an aim of creating a community of young professionals able to effect change in public administration in a future democratic Belarus. SYMPA’s mission is to create and support channels of communication for public administration professionals and keep them informed about principles and practices of modern good governance, to involve the target groups in educational and exchange programmes in order to build their capacity in public administration and instill the value of civil participation, and to conduct research in the field of public administration. We work to improve the quality of public procurement, to increase participation in decision making at the local level, and to increase transparency and accountability in public spending. Research in public administration in Belarus is one of SYMPA’s strategic directions. For this reason, BIPART - Belarusian Institute for Public Administration Reform and Transformation was established in 2011 as SYMPA’s research branch. BIPART’s mission is to promote the reform of the public administration system in Belarus in accordance with modern principles and practices. BIPART unites people interested in improving the quality of governance in Belarus. SYMPA is a member of NISPAcee and the OECD Global Network of Schools of Public Administration.

Network of Estonian Non-profit Organizations

Network of Estonian Nonprofit Organizations, NENO (or Vabaühenduste Liit in Estonian) is the single and largest Estonian organization uniting public benefit nonprofit organizations. NENO is an advocacy organization focusing on a sustainable civic space and additionally to that we also focus on capacity building and civic awareness. NENO is a membership organization created for the implementation and protection of the common interest of Estonian public benefit nonprofits. NENO currently (Oktober 2018) unites 101 active and operational public benefit nonprofit organizations in Estonia from all fields, both associations and foundations. At the same time, our information network involves approx. 4000 organizations. NENO’s mission is to give voice to and advocate on behalf of Estonian public benefit organizations and its work is dedicated to the development and promotion of civic action and civil society in Estonia.

Baltic Sea NGO Network, Denmark

Baltic Sea NGO Network, Denmark (formerly DANFØ) is a national network of Danish NGOs and institutions with the common goal to promote and improve conditions for developing civil society in the Baltic Sea Region. Baltic Sea NGO Network, Denmark is the national focal point in the regional network, Baltic Sea NGO Network. The regional network is governed by the Coordinating Committee (CC), and Baltic Sea NGO Network, Denmark, is a member of the committee. The regional network is planning implementation of an annual NGO Forum, which historically is linked to the establishment of Council of Baltic Sea States, CBSS. Baltic Sea NGO Forum is recognized by CBSS as a strategic partner, and the final document of the Forum is considered as civil society's contribution to the CBSS summits. Baltic Sea NGO Network, Denmark was established in 2001 under the name DANFØ following an international NGO conference in Copenhagen, the Copenhagen Initiative. The final document, The Copenhagen Declaration of the Copenhagen NGO initiative, is incorporated in the network's statutes. Since the EU enlargement, the network has focused its efforts on development of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, EUSBSR, where it has tried to ensure NGOs in the region the best possible framework conditions for sustainable development of the civil society in the whole Baltic Sea Region.

Life Rejuvenation Africa (LRA)

Life Rejuvenation Africa (LRA) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) officially registered to operate in Uganda with (ref: S.5914/10865) in 2014 and Luwero being its pioneer District. The vision of the organization is to observe flourished, saved and secure communities. The mission of the organization is to establish strong hardworking generations that will passionately take on the lead to the anticipated great future of our cultures, environment and communities. Life Rejuvenation Africa mainly targets the women, youth and children in the society. LRA’s broad objectives include:  To sensitize people about the importance of the conservation of the environment.  To introduce as well as teaching on the safe modern farming methods for high productivity to address the food security and family income issues.  To extend clean safe water as well as water preservation to be used in dry season for both domestic and farming activities.  To provide a Historical Organizational Development of various cultures and institutions.  To identify, facilitate and supplementing the exceptional programs intended for promoting and improving the women, youth and children wellbeing and cultural heritage.

Hringsjá vocational and educational center

Hringsjá was founded in 1987 by the Icelandic Center for people with disabilities (ÖBÍ), then as a Vocational Training center for adults with disabilities. Hringsjá´s function has evolved and grown since then. Hringsjá is now a school for adults who have themselves applied for studies, and also determined their need for an educational and vocational training in a supported and safe environment. The overall objective is empowerment through education and the enhancement of personal development. Students are both men and women, 18 years of age and older with diverse background and story in life. Their common goal at Hringsjá is to enter mainstream work, or enter a “regular” school after they finish their studies at Hringsjá. Statistics show that 70%-80% of those students that have graduated reached that goal, but all say that the quality of their life improved. Students have various backgrounds and have decided to reassess and strengthen their possibilities and position in society. Most students have health problems due to disease, accidents, trauma, psychiatric illness or lifestyle choices. Most have more than one diagnosis. Many have a history of difficulties during their previous school years. Hringsjá is a small school, with approximately 70 students attend the full training program at a time, the full program is 3 semesters. In addition approx. 400 students a year, attend shorter courses and consultation. Most of Hringsjá´s students receive their income from National Social Security, the majority only temporarily while studying at Hringsjá. The training program consists of courses in basic skills such as reading, writing and arithmetic as well as social studies and social skills, but main emphasis is on teaching and training in skills important for office and service work e.g. bookkeeping, Icelandic, English and the use of computers . Special focus is on a variety – and sometimes untraditional teaching methods and approaches. In addition; student´s also receive training in the area of various personal skills, with the guidance of a psychologist and social counsellor. Some students receive special education and/or further diagnosis of their situation, particularly ADD/ADHD or Dyslexia. Among special supports provided is Davis Dyslexia counselling, private coaching and an extensive network and teamwork with a variety of agencies and institutions. Educational and vocational counselling is provided as well as teaching and training in various job-seeking skills. A vocational counsellor gives a follow up guidance. Hringsjá aims at providing a safe, comfortable environment for education, vocational training and personal growth, for adults that have not had many victories in life. Hringsjá is a place where students redefine their skills, interest and self image. Students that graduate from Hringsjá usually speak of finally finishing something, having reached a goal; being winners and succeeding.

Nyheimar Knowledge Center was established as an umbrella organization for various institutions and agencies working in education, research, innovation and culture. Its central role is to facilitate cooperation between the various sectors within and as a part of the Municipality of Hornafjordur. Another vital objective is to promote closer cooperation of individuals, businesses, organizations and public entities with a special emphasis on the integration of culture, education, innovation and research. Nýheimar Knowledge Center has an experience in organizing educational events of various kinds, both for residents and student groups. There is a particularly great experience in organizing events such as conference meetings, educational lectures and forums. Members of the research center have extensive interdisciplinary knowledge and experience, especially in the field of environment and education.

Folkevirke

Folkevirke is the women's own cross-political movement of adult education. It was founded in 1944 by Bodil Koch, later minister of the church and minister of culture. The initiating point was the anger or indignation the Danish women felt after the general election in 1943 for our "FOLKETING", the Danish parliament, when only two out of the four female members were re-elected. Folkevirke has been known to bring what you would call "early warnings". Time and again a subject has been thoroughly treated in our circles and meetings, when the government sets up a campaign over the country dealing with just that issue! Right from the start our major principle has been to keep our courses cross-political, i.e. not representing any of the political parties. Also time is always set aside for discussions with the participants and lecturers, to help promoting genuine democracy. Folkevirke thinks it is important to democracy in Denmark, that everybody is heard - and that it is the argument that counts. "The word and not the sword". Folkevirke has since 1990 participated in international cooperation’s through EU-funded projects and Nordplus projects. The members of Folkevirke have a joint belief that it is important in the multi-cultural and globalized society of today to be active citizens focusing on making the values of the society visible to all. Folkevirke is the women's own cross-political movement of adult education. Folkevirke deals with subjects we find important: Environmental questions - new technologies including genetic technology - food-radiation - the challenge of migration and minorities - ethical questions - economics national level, questions arising up to the national referendum on the Maastricht treaty -literature - theatre - music - museums - art, especially women artists, and so forth. Right from the start our major principle has been to keep our courses cross-political, i.e. not representing any of the political parties. Also time is always set aside for discussions with the participants and lecturers, to help promoting genuine democracy Folkevirke has since the early 1990’s been involved in adult education at an international level – in projects in Nordplus and EU. For several project Folkevirke has been the coordinating organisation.

Interfolk - Institute for Civil Society

Interfolk, Institute for Civil Society is a Danish non-profit association and private research institute, founded in 2008. The aim is to promote humanistic and democratic learning capacities in a civil society context. The activities of Interfolk include research, surveys, development projects, courses, seminars, debate activities and other cultural activities - in a Danish, Nordic and European context. Interfolk’s main area of project activity is in adult education, arts and culture and promotion of the learning capacity in civil society contexts. Interfolk has since 2008 been coordinator for 4 Danish development projects, 8 Nordic projects supported by Nordplus Adult, Culture Point Nord as well as the Nordic Council of Ministers NGO programme for the Baltic Sea region and the open programme for cooperation with Russian NGOs; and 7 EU projects supported by the former Grundtvig programme and current Erasmus+ programme and the Creative Europe programme. All these Nordic and EU programme can to some extent include cooperation with Russian NGOs. Below three typical projects are presented.
