MTU Jazzon

The Youth Club MTU JazzOn is an international youth organization that believes that youth work is based on equal treatment, tolerance and partnership approach. Our youth work is performed for and with young people, involving them in decision-doings of the conditions for the acquisition of knowledge and skills based on the needs and interests of young people. Our organization is well known in Estonia for organizing international summer workshops for the youth in rural areas. We combine non-formal education with cultural activities, such as social theater, folk music, dancing, storytelling and other performances, games, yoga activities (Acro yoga, Funk yoga), meditation and mindfulness. Our main goal is to in cooperate with other similar organizations all around EU, Scandinavian countries and neighboring countries, in order to together gain and share experiences for further development. Youth exchanges and training courses form a big part of our identity, since we know from first hand experience how important it is to broaden young people's horizon and encourage them to understand the very different world around them. In our activities, we often focus on bringing non-formal education to youth in rural areas, encourage entrepreneurship, ecological lifestyle and environmental protection among them and promote tolerance and understanding towards new and sometimes foreign ways and ideas. As an organization active in a rural area, we fight against social exclusion among local youth. To promote community integration through leisure and recreational activities, we engage local people in many low-cost activities that are fun, relaxing, and may provide opportunities to meet new people. Such activities include practicing yoga, organizing theater plays, a book group, different training courses, biking, playing sports or a musical instrument, painting, going on nature walks, etc. We have many successful projects all over Europe behind us that have given us the experience and knowledge that we now want to share with others. We are creative, brave, wanting to learn and willing to teach, and all the time searching innovative methods and tools.

Agriculture club

Urban platform "Agriculture club" is an art-community in Petrozavodsk, Karelia, that merges art-cluster, civil activists and citizens together. Once designed to be an art-space, the place turned into a point of attraction of active and non-indifferent сitizens. The development directions are diverse, although one common thing is that it is driven by a grassroot initiative. Many projects emerged as a suggestion of citizens with active social position who came to the art-space with an idea and developed it into a project with the help of volunteers. Mission of the club: to preserve an ability to think, comprehend and analyze in people, to give them the space for self-development and sane criticism, to maintain the connection to art, to teach empathy and compassion. All members of the club's team are volunteers. NGO Agriculture club exists with a help of citizens' endowments and grants. Organization is independent, it is not connected to any of political or religious organizations. NGO believes in freedom of speech and puts it among top of its values. Independence allows to realize projects that are connected to freedom of speech and human rights' protection in Russia. Most of the events and projects are interactive and allow for the guest to be heard. A voice of an individual is very important for the team of the club. Daily activities, concerts, seminars, lectures and even parties are not segregated on the basis of age. People of all generations feel comfortable is a cosy and friendly environment. Agriculture club is always open to new ideas and it fosters urban projects.

Ponimanie

Ponimanie is professional and volunteer non-governmental organization set up in Belarus, and working in realm of Children's Human Rights, Prevention and Response to Child Abuse and Neglect since 2000. It was registered by the Ministry of Justice, and re-registered in 2006, reg. #01407 dated of April 06, 2006. Ponimanie is national leader in Prevention and Response to Child Abuse and Neglect, visible on Global level, and making impact with its innovations in Eastern European Region, the Pacific, and worldwide during the last 18 years. Ponimanie is developing the United Child Protection Model, recognized with ISPCAN Multidisciplinary Team Award in 2014. Ponimanie possesses great experience in advocacy, policy-making, training for professionals, and direct service delivery, summarized in 24 books, and 3 toolkits in 2003-2018. It holds and develops 7/24 toll-free Child Helpline Belarus, network of 21 CAC, Treatment Service for abused children, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children – Belarus. Ponimanie's action is going from the bottom of Direct Service Delivery to the top of Policy Making, and International Advocacy in favor of children’s rights and protection of child victims and witnesses of violence, and other vulnerable groups of children. INGO "Ponimanie" participated at some public-private consultative bodies including the Commission on Juvenile Affairs under the Council of Ministers, allowing to advocate in the Government to take decisions in favor of Children’s Rights and Protection.  INGO “Ponimanie” is National Partner of International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN) in Belarus since 2006, UNICEF’s implementing partner in 2001-2006, a member of Child Rights Connect (former NGO Group for Children’s Rights), Child Rights Information Network (CRIN), member of Child Helpline International (CHI), member of Global Missing Children Networking (GMCN), implementing partner of International Organization for Migration (IOM) in prevention of trafficking in children (2010-12), participant of development of General Comment-13 (GC-13) to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, founding co-author of the first in national history Alternative Report following to the 3-4th Belarus State Party Periodical Report to UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, on the implementation of the Article 19 of UN CRC (2010-11). We are looking for foreign and international support to our activity due to 1) poor and tough international donor market for Human Rights/Children's Rights available for Belarus; 2) absence of local culture of philanthropy and financial participation in solution of societal challenges in Belarus both in people and business; 3) active counteraction of excessive intermediaries (local UN and some civic/expert/human rights defenders groups) protecting their unjust control over international donor support to national civil society of Belarus. We become weaker in 2019 because of dirty competition on international donor market, from the side of local UN agencies, and we need for building new partnerships aiming for better outcomes for children in Belarus, and wider in Baltic Region.

Human Rights Academy

Human Rights Academy (HRA) has been working in the field of education in human rights and democratic citizenship (HRE/EDC) since 2008. The main activities are trainings in HRE/EDC for various groups in society (youth/students, asylum seekers, teachers, journalism and law students, NGO activists, volunteers, social workers, others). Development of interactive teaching methods in HRE/EDC is another priority. HRA is member of DARE network (Democracy and Human Rights in Europe). The main goal of our work is to increase awareness of and respect to international human rights through education. Lifestory - National Oral History of Latvia

NGO "Lifestory" works on the border between social researchers, scholars and the community, uniting professional researchers in oral history and volunteers. The association unites over 60 active members, who participate in fieldwork, workshops and training seminars. The cooperation between researchers and members of society has already resulted in the creation of the Latvian Oral History Archive. This collection consists of more than 4 500 life stories/biographic interviews – many of these life stories have been documented in the Latvian communities abroad, as well as in the ethnic communities in Latvia. We provide resources to all fields of academic research - sociology, social and cultural anthropology, linguistics, cultural and social history, ethnology, folklore, psychology, and it is also open for the wider community. The important task of the Association is to promote the skills and competence of its members in the form of adult education – learning and teaching interview work and biographical research methodology. The oral history collection gives a voice and a sense of empowerment to individuals, ethnic groups, and minorities, and helps them define their place in society and history.

Kashubian Folk University

The main areas of program activity of the Kashubian Folk University (KFU) focus on civic education, cultural (regional and intercultural) education and ecology. These are the pillars of almost all KFU’s educational and cultural activities, resulting both from tradition and the real challenges of the modern world. The general goal of KFU is to prepare students to be creative, aware citizens who care about their own development and development of the community they co-create. Perhaps the most important task since the establishment of the KFU is civic education. The social competences obtained by students in the KFU are an important complement to other competences (eg professional). Their usefulness is particularly visible in these periods when societies face new challenges related to democratization of public life, building a local community, etc. Many initiatives with which KFU appears every year testify to efforts to best fulfil this traditional KFU duty to the local and regional community. The Kashubian Folk University, preparing individual initiatives, thus maintains close ties with poviats and communes, listening to the needs of the communities concerned and animating training in the field of broadly understood civic education. Over the years, the institution has carried out many projects focused on the issues of local self-government and building the structures of a democratic state. In the last decade, KUL also dealt with the issue of improving journalist staff for the local press. The second of the most important tasks of the Kashubian UL is regional and intercultural education. It is associated with the necessity of constantly pointing to the need to live in harmony with the tradition of the region, but also to instill respect for and creatively multiply the achievements of communities living in the area of our Little Homeland. The KFU for years organizes artistic plein-airs, courses for non-professional artists, concerts, performances, annual folk ritual workshops, mediates in the exchange of artistic groups of the region with others, etc. Workshops supporting the disappearing fields of folk art are particularly strongly supported. Thanks to this, still vivid in the region are: embroidery, wood carving, weaving, pottery, plaiting or kinking. As a result, the facility succeeded, among others reactivate traditional Kashubian painting on glass. In its educational activities related to regional and intercultural culture, KUL seeks to combine tradition with modernity. The third pillar of the KUL's educational activity is ecology. On the one hand, this is due to the tradition of folk universities, where the necessity of living in harmony with nature has always been stressed. On the other - the facility is located in the Polish region, where significant areas of nature have been saved from degradation. Therefore, the activities in this area are focused mainly on creating a universal program of knowledge about the environment, shaping friendly attitudes towards nature and propagating pro-ecological ideas.

The Association of Cultural Heritage Education in Finland is a national non-governmental expert organization. The mission of the association is to serve as an expert, influencer, promoter, developer, and communicator of cultural heritage education and education of culturally sustainable development. The target is to strengthen the cultural competence of especially children and youth – information, skills, and experiences regarding diverse cultural heritage – and to support identity building, involvement in culture and society, and the fulfilment of cultural rights. The association provides educators and other professionals with information, material, expertise, ideas for activities, operating models, and new networks. The association co-operates with actors of education, culture, environment, and youth sectors. The partners of the association include the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of the Environment, the Finnish National Agency for Education, and the National Board of Antiquities as well as different organizations and associations, schools and educational establishments, museums, archives, World Heritage Sites, and many professionals and experts in different fields.

The Adult Non-formal Education Center Azote is the foundation of the NGO "Ritineitis". The center's "Azote" functions include not only educational functions, but also functions of promoting culture, motivation for job search, social mentoring and others. The main objectives of NGO Ritineitis and ANEC Azote: To broaden the opportunities for individuals to achieve the necessary education and professional qualifications, thus contributing to the development of lifelong learning (providing of computer, English, German, Russian,Job Motivation e.t.c. courses) To organize activities in the arrangement and preservation of the natural and cultural heritage ; To provide support for children, young people, pensioners and people with special needs in promoting their access to the environment, improving their knowledge, skills and abilities, raising their self-esteem; To increase the competitiveness of business both on a regional and international scale, to promote access to international outlet markets and to promote the development of qualitative human resources and attracting of these resources to companies, social mentoring; To develop entertainment, sports, recreation and introduction - interactive communication - spheres; To promote the active participation of Balvi residents in raising the overall standard of living by uniting the Balvi region community - its economic, political, cultural and sporting, scientific and social resources and forces for the development of the Balvi region and Latgale, as well as to promote public support and participation in the work of the Organization. To promote the economic security of the society and the development of democracy, knowing itself as an integral part of the European Union; To cooperate with similar organizations in Latvia, EU Member States and partner countries, as well as in other countries, which are not incompatible with the objectives of the organization; To cooperate with local government institutions, government institutions of Latvia, as well as Latvian representations abroad; To attract financial resources for the implementation of the organization's goals. There are four office workers- manager of ANEC Azote and three project managers , as well as about 40 teachers and lecturers who works periodically. Although the training center has not been established long ago, it has employees with a rich experience in implementing of international projects like Grundvig, Comenius, Nordplus and Erasmus +.

Efterskole Association

The Efterskole Association is a NGO for the 250 efterskoles in Denmark. The Efterskole is a unique Danish residential school, where students from the ages of 14 to 18 can choose to spend one, two or three years to finish their primary education. For general information about the Danish school system, please see this publication by the Danish Minisry of Education Each efterskole is a self-governing independent institution and they all deal with both the educational and personal development of the students. They embrace a common educational focus on enlightenment for life, general education and democratic citizenship. The first efterskole were founded about 150 years ago. The schools were closely related to the Danish Folk High School and the educational ideas of N.F.S. Grundtvig (1789-1872) who wanted schools to provide enlightenment for life rather than formal vocational training. Read more about the history Compared to public schools the efterskole has substantial freedom in terms of eg. choice of subjects, teaching methods and educational approach. These vary in accordance with the school’s political, religious or pedagogical orientation. Freedom of the efterskole is assured by substantial state subsidies to both schools and students. One of the things that are unique about the efterskole is the teacher-student relationship. The teacher is responsible for both teaching and supervision outside of school hours. This means that teachers and students are together all day from the time the students wake up until they go to bed. This often engenders a close, personal and non-formal relationship between students and teachers. Most efterskoles offer the same subjects and final examinations as the public schools, but many focus on special subjects like physical education, music or theatre, or offer various kinds of special education. There are about 250 efterskoles spread across Denmark, mostly in rural areas or near provincial towns. At present approximately 28.500 students attend the schools, and about 20% of all Danish students attend an efterskole for either one, two or three years. Schools vary in size from 35 to 500 students but must have a minimum of approx. 120 students. The number of students has increased considerably within the last 25 years.
